Specialisms: Mental Health Advocacy, Evidence-Based Approaches to Depression, Building Community and Resilience
On the surface, Joe was a normal bloke. He was hitting his high-flyer targets in his corporate sales job, had loads of mates, and when he wasn’t in the pub, he was playing football.
Joe started to have problems with his sleep and eventually found himself on a downward spiral into the depths of depression. His doctor told Joe that his depression was the result of a problem with his brain. What Joe discovered next challenged everything he thought he knew about depression and mental health.
Joe recently spoke at TEDxNHS to offer a more evidence-based and hopeful approach to depression. Joe also co-presented the British Psychological Society’s ‘Understanding Depression; the bigger picture’ in the hope that others can be empowered to make informed decisions.
Joe also founded Reconnect Club, a social enterprise that helps people find the community and tools they need when they’re experiencing depression.
Through Public Speaking and Reconnect Club, Joe uses his own experience of depression to help others find the understanding and hope they need to grow from life’s challenges.
