Specialisms: Mental Health, Lived Experience Leadership, HIV and AIDS

Keith has lived experience of mental health problems. He uses this to campaign against discrimination, fighting for equality and inclusion.

His work at National AIDS Trust promoted World AIDS Day and the Red Ribbon. He produced Are You HIV Prejudiced? to challenge stigma and discrimination. Keith founded Health Initiatives for Youth UK with Clint Walters, providing support to young people with HIV.

He was seconded to MTV as HIV advisor on two special Staying Alive TV programmes with President Bill Clinton.

His recent achievements at Mind with Time to Change include pioneering innovative community engagement and creating a social movement involving 38 cities and regions. This has resulted in a significant decrease in stigma around mental health.

By utilising the power of lived experience, he supported people with lived experience (Champions) to amplify their voices at a series of mass participation events across the country.

As the world’s largest mental health campaign, Time to Change was recognised by the Royal Society of Health in the top twenty public health achievements in the UK during the 21 st  Century.

Keith represented mental health on the Community Disability Forum which assisted the planning of the London 2012 Olympics/Paralympics.
