Lily Mott is the director of Be the change. Media Network which she founded to amplify the voices of young changemakers from around the world.
When protests broke out across the United States in June 2020, Lily created a podcast to share her account of the protests in Washington, DC. However, Be the change. Podcast quickly developed into a weekly podcast featuring young changemakers from across the United States and then around the world when she studied abroad for a year at the University of Oxford.
Now, four years and hundreds of interviews later, Be the change. Media Network consists of three podcasts (and counting), a radio show, and an Instagram Live series that reach an international audience.
Lily is currently finishing her studies as a Fulbright US-UK Scholar where she is pursuing an MA in Digital Media and Society and studying the intersections between social media, civic participation, politics, and journalism. She plans to continue researching political content moderation as a PhD candidate next year.
Lily is passionate about ensuring that young people's stories and perspectives are represented in every space where decisions are being made. She discusses themes of youth voice, social media, young people in the media, young people in politics, social action, youth inclusion, and youth empowerment.
