Specialisms: Misdiagnosis (Neurodiversity), Writing and Creativity with ADHD and Dyslexia, Music, Spoken Word Poetry & Youth Voice

Yasmine Dankwah is a freelance artist and music researcher, who uses text and sound to explore her identity and creativity as a common ground for conversation, reflection as well as invite the courage to create authentically and fearlessly.

Blending nostalgia, musicality and rhyme, she uses her words to talk about various subject topics through the lens of creative self-expression and inner-childlike play.

From her misdiagnosis of ADHD and dyslexia after several failed attempts at an undergraduate degree, to exploring youth underemployment, being working class whilst navigating the arts, writing using sound or even Black British History, Yasmine aims to create brave spaces to inspire and remind people to reflect on their lived experience as being important and valid.

By acknowledging her introversion and vulnerability as a strength, she invites introspection and the validation of ones emotions to spark authenticity and creative courage.

Yasmine has worked with various organisations across the UK including but not limited to Autistica, the London Writers Centre, Sound Connections and Mercedes Benz taking on roles as panelist, workshop leader, podcast and conference host as well as spoken word poet.

Last year, her debut play 'rite to party' was shortlisted for the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting and the Alfred Fagon Award.

Currently undertaking a Master of Research at the Royal College of Art, Yasmine specialises in a metaphor-turned-methodology-of-make-believe she has coined Soul Sonic Archaeology. As part of this she re-imagines her living room as grade one listed archaeological site rich with sonic artefacts such as TVs, Sky Boxes, gaming consoles and CDs, to reflect on how our listening practices have changed with the evolution of technology using conversations with her family.
