Speakers Collective backs Future Minds campaign for urgent action on children’s mental health
Speakers Collective is proud to support the Future Minds campaign and its call for urgent, sustained action to improve mental health support for children and young people.
The campaign’s new mid-term report assesses progress halfway through this Parliament and finds that action is not yet keeping pace with rising need.
Without significant intervention, the report estimates that 3.9 million further referrals for children and young people’s mental health support could be made in England by August 2029, with more than 1.1 million potentially not receiving treatment.
Future Minds is calling for four key commitments: protecting investment in children and young people’s mental health; making it a national priority across government; introducing and enforcing access and waiting-time standards; and delivering Early Support Hubs in every community for young people up to 25.
As a collective of speakers with lived experience and professional expertise, we know how important it is that young people can access the right support, at the right time, before problems reach crisis point.
