January can feel long, dark, and heavy after the buzz of the festive season. Motivation dips, routines wobble, and our mood can take a hit.
That’s exactly why RED (Rise Every Day) January exists - a simple but powerful movement that encourages us to move every day in a way that works for us.
Founded by Hannah Beecham MBE, RED January has inspired thousands of people to use movement as a tool to feel better, boost their mental wellbeing, and connect with others during what can be the toughest month of the year.
It’s not about extremes or perfection – it’s about showing up, however you can.
Why set a movement challenge?
Movement is proven to lift mood, reduce stress, and improve energy levels. A January movement challenge can gives you:
Structure when motivation is low
Momentum from small daily wins
Flexibility to choose movement you actually enjoy
Connection with a community all rising together
Whether it’s walking, stretching, dancing in the kitchen, swimming, or gentle yoga, every movement counts.
Join the Nationwide Warm-Up to RED January 2026
For 2026, RED January is stepping into an exciting new chapter and it starts with setting your own movement challenge and being part of a nationwide warm-up that brings people together before January even begins.
We’re huge fans of RED January and everything it stands for and doing something positive for your physical and mental health.
So if January usually feels like something to “get through”, this is your sign to do it differently.
